Centralized data platform for a healthcare provider

Software engineering, integration & testing
A leading company in the German healthcare sector modernized its HR system landscape by creating a central data platform on Oracle Cloud. The new solution combines previously fragmented legacy systems into a standardized, data-driven structure and thus forms the basis for transparent HR analyses, efficient processes and future-oriented HR management.

our story

01

Task

Our client from the healthcare sector commissioned Diconium to set up a central, modern HR data platform to support the introduction of Oracle HCM while consolidating several legacy HR systems that had grown over time.

The aim was to create a uniform database for reporting, analytics and future digital HR processes. The new platform was to run on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and serve as a scalable foundation for a long-term data-driven HR strategy.

02

The Challenge

We were faced with a complex initial situation: HR systems that had grown over the years, such as LOGA, RLDatix, SAP and others, led to fragmented data structures, different formats and a lack of transparency. There was no modern HR analytics basis, and the switch from German-language legacy systems to an English-language global data model made harmonization even more difficult.

At the same time, highly sensitive HR data had to be processed securely and protected with clear access rights. The new platform not only had to integrate these heterogeneous sources, but also be scalable enough to easily connect future systems.

Solutions

To support the customer on its way to a modern, data-driven HR organization, Diconium developed a central HR data platform based on the Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse. The aim was to create a standardized, scalable database that integrates both Oracle HCM and several existing legacy systems, thus enabling a consistent HR data landscape for the first time.

The implementation was carried out in several interlocking steps that ensure both technical stability and long-term expandability:

  • Setting up a professional development environment with Git and Oracle Visual Builder Studio for clean versioning, collaborative working and transparent deployment processes.
  • Development of automated Python pipelines that transfer data from the legacy LOGA system to the data warehouse reliably, securely and regularly.
  • Integration of Oracle HCM data into the same platform to create a standardized, cross-system HR data foundation.
  • Creation of a medallion architecture (bronze/silver/gold) that clearly structures raw data, cleansed data and analytical models, thus ensuring scalability, data quality and maintainability.
  • Implementation of secure cloud environments including fine-grained access rights to protect the sensitive nature of HR data and meet compliance requirements.
  • Preparation of the platform for future expansions so that additional HR or company systems can be connected without structural breaks.

This architecture has created a robust, future-proof data platform that supports operational HR processes as well as strategic analyses and the long-term digital transformation of the company.

Successes

The new HR data platform from Diconium has enabled a significant step to be taken towards data-driven HR management within the healthcare industry. The consolidated architecture, the integration of central HR systems and the secure processing of sensitive HR data now form the basis for modern reporting and analysis processes. At the same time, the scalable cloud environment creates room for future expansions and supports the long-term digital transformation in the HR sector.

Key successes:

  • Central HR database by merging legacy systems and the new HCM system.
  • First modern HR analytics platform as a foundation for data-driven decisions.
  • Improved data quality and transparency, especially for strategic HR issues.
  • Secure processing of sensitive HR data thanks to clear role and authorization concepts.
  • Scalable cloud architecture that can easily accommodate future systems and data sources.
  • Strengthened digital HR transformation, as processes and analyses are now based on a stable, modern platform.
